success and failure

Failures first:
this weekend I semi-foolishly embarked on a "create-the-pattern-as-I-go" knitting adventure: a valentines day smitten mitten set (two regular mittens, one for each person, and one cute middle mitten for holding hands). I've made mittens before so I had a pretty good idea how to make those work, and I'm sorta proud of the result there, but my laziness totally trumped crafting success with the middle mitten which looks like it's almost-adorable heart shape has been amputated at the bottom, if only I'd kept going a few rows to work them into a point. So my valentines mittens so far are being filed under FAILED, but I know what I've done wrong and HOPEFULLY I can get up the motivation to do it right . . . and maybe before valentines day!

Success:
After an extra long naptime thanks to a grandma's holding arms for the last 40 minutes. I successfully finished 2! adorable zipper pouches or makeup bags today! Then, once he got home, my husband dear gave me enough Y-free time to finish one more! There's like a zillion tutorials out there for all kinds of these, just google zipper pouch tutorial and you should find one you like. Unfortunately, I am plagued with the foolish disorder of thinking I can "wing it" and rarely stick to the tutorials, which resulted today (as it often does) in some unnecessary time loss (not to mention I was left alone to rethread my machine without my husband-a seamster genius!). However, after the struggles of my "firsties" I think I find ways that work good for me and so it's all good in the end :) right! That's just me justifying my horribly short attention span

I hate how crafting seems to leave my house in complete disarray whilst it leaves me in complete lack of motivation to clean it up :)

On a completely unrelated note, I'm replacing my weightloss ticker at the bottom of the blog as that endeavor will be temporarily put on hold until this summer ;)
