What she wore . . . birthday edition

photos by Laura of Housewife In Town

Miss A, the birthday princess wore the cutest outfit ever!! I stumbled across petti rompers whilst cruising through etsy pages and I'm so glad I did! I bought three for a deal ($49.95) at Posh Petti Designs. 2 Dusty rose (one for each girly, for a sisters and 1st birthday photo shoot I had scheduled) and 1 in ivory or cream to be the cutest birthday suit you ever saw!

These suits are ADORABLE on their own, but for her birthday, I wanted to make one even more spectacular. I created a halter-type neck tie by just hand sewing a V-shape of matching satin ribbon ($1.99) at the front top center. I then deconstructed a GORGEOUS fake peony ($2.99 w/coupon reg. $5.99) from Joann's and glued a jewely button ($3.00) in the center and hot glued that to a stiff piece of felt ($1.19) which I then sewed to the front. Voila' so so sewwwwww cute, I can hardly stand it! She only attempted total outfit destruction once during the photo shoot, but my sweet photographer had a glue gun handy, so we were all good :)

swoon

oh how i love love love this dress! Wouldn't you feel like a starlet in an old paradise-y movie wearing this?? Problem: if I bought this, it might prompt a highly irrational desire to return to paradise . . . Hawaii that is . . . it's been too long! Better just keep admiring from afar ;)

Lucky

If you asked me or anyone who knows me, or you are one who knows me :) to think of a word to describe my current personal fashion state of being, it would be this: Frumpy. I don't deny it. I am the QUEEN OF FRUMPINESS. I live in comfortable, ill-fitting, often paint splattered clothes! I am COMPLETELY guilty of venturing out and about with full-on bedhead hair. I ALWAYS wear flip flops. I wish there was a more attractive word to describe these practices as a whole, but I think that's the whole point . . . Anyways, I'm well aware of this fact. Sometimes I have this intense awareness of it (obviously not enough so as to put more effort in to my look . . . ) but enough to make sure I'm not flashing my tummy rolls or "coin slot" to any potential "What Not To Wear" secret filming crews. If only!!
That's not to say I don't appreciate nice clothes. And I know, I could totally put more effort into rocking my Wal Mart jeans and husbands wife-beater tank, but let's be honest, I'd be more motivated if I was sporting Calvin Klein Jeans and a LuckyBrand top :) Which brings me to the whole point of this confessional/blog post: Lucky is having a super sale online. A bunch of stuff is marked down 50% which ALMOST makes it affordable! If you have yet to check out their FABULOUS clothes, than you really should hop over just for a look. Further BONUS: they have identical kid sized versions of most of their awesome clothes. Meaning, if I happen to fall into some money any time in the near future, I just might have the hippest dressed toddler on the block :) So here's to cheapER good clothes and good intentions to de-FRUMPITIZE!!!

Oscar Fashion Debrief

Okay, so needless to say I was stoked about the Slumdog sweep, and thoroughly enjoyed dreamboat, Hugh Jackman . . . But let's talk about the fashion! Who were your favorites??!?! It came down to two ladies for me, and I think Taraji P. Henson won it over as my favorite look for the night. She was absolutely stunning! The gorgeous cream Roberto Cavalli gown was a elegant backdrop to that stunning necklace! I love the drapey and lightweigh layers. Not to mention her hair (which I'm so badly coveting), makeup and whole demeanor was nothing short of perfect. She is a doll! I wanted so badly for her to win!
Such a close second for me was Angelina Jolie. I DIED when I saw that emerald jewelry and the way it pops from her classy yet simple Elie Saab dress. You could see her tattoos (I like tattoos!) and not to mention she's so luckily draped on the arm of maybe the most gorgeous human being known to man (It's been 15 years since I first clipped your picture out of a magazine, Mr. Pitt, and I STILL LOVE YOU!) hahaha. Anyways, I love how they were both just classically "understated" and then her jewels and their damn perfect faces just popped :P haha It was just kinda like they were an ameoba, a whole look: two people, a black dress, a tux, and some emeralds. Recipe for fabulous.
