Farewell for now, Mr. O'brien

I've totally sucked myself into the hype, which I usually don't do. But, in this case, it involved someone that had been somewhat iconic in my adolescence, thus I think bringing up memories of those "old days" and the such. . . . so how could I not care?

I was a crazy insomniac in jr. high and highschool. That, and probably even more of a tv nut then I am now. Conan O'brien bursting onto my 13" television screen in a low volume so as to not disturb my sleeping parents in the bedroom below mine, made me feel like I wasn't the ONLY person awake. His absurdly hillarious sketches and antics made me laugh out loud at an hour that would otherwise feel quite lonely. For example, I can remember so clearly lying in my bed and hearing this:

"Isn't that right cactus chef playing We didn't start the fire on the flute?"

And, how I wish I could find the entire video of this bollywood sketch :) Just finding these 11 seconds reminds me of how it grasped me from my algebra 1 homework and captivated me in laughter.

And also, what about the epic battle with Comedy Central late night hosts John Stewart and Stephen Colbert over (what else?) who created Mike Huckabee :) hahaha

5 years ago when they announced that my late night guilty pleasure was going to "inherit" the famous Tonight Show, it seemed so great and I looked forward to a new "generation" of the Tonight show with such a silly comedic style as Conan's. I mean people get a decade at least of their Tonight Show hosts, they become icons.
Then that time came, and that first episode seemed like the beginning of something golden and yet so familiar to the 14 year old girl I'd once been :) Andy was back, Max was there, La bamba! If Jay Leno's Tonight Show belonged to my parents, then Conan's would be ours! So needless to say, it was sad and disappointing see it cut super short by the craziness of the last couple weeks (although, lets be real, it has made for some fabulous monologue jokes). Tonight is Conan O'Brien's last night on NBC and I think a chapter is closing years ahead of itself. . . I just hope he finds another venue to continue making us smile! (which I'm sure he will!)

Disclaimer:
I know some of you are thinking I'm taking all of this way to seriously in the midst of things far , far more important that are going on. I'm really not, I'm well aware this is not that big of a deal and I'm not devastated (if that is what it sounds like) :P haha I merely wanted to share the fun I've had with this show and this entertainer and for what it's worth, express my disappointment in their departure, and give them some props as they're on they're way out :)
